Library Open House: Tuesday, April 10, 10AM-1PM

In honor of National Library Week, the Law Library will be hosting an Open House, Tuesday, April 10th from 10 AM – 1 PM.  During the Open House, Lexis will providing mini-tutorials for the faculty and students on using Lexis Advanced, as well as the Lexis Digital Library.  This is a great opportunity to see what the Lexis Digital Library has to offer.   We will also have lots of fun activities including Giant Jenga, coloring and back by popular demand, Hexbugs Racing.

Stop by for highlighters, pens, and goodies …….. plus CAKE!

Come join Marina Linnik, our visiting student with the Russia-U.S. Legal Education Foundation (RUSLEF), to learn about Russian culture. Marina is preparing a Russian dish for us to sample (while supplies last) and help us learn about Russian culture. As Marina’s time in the US is soon coming to a close, she would like to give back to our community by sharing a tidbit about her culture.

Julia Amusan, our exchange student from France, will contribute some French treats.

It looks like a lot of us forgot something last week: our raffle tickets! Not to worry; SBA is extending last week’s raffle ticket sale through lunch this Monday. We’ll be at the table through lunch to help students avoid the regret of not taking the chance to win half the raffle proceeds, two free tickets to Barrister’s Ball, or free drink tickets.

All this week SBA will be selling 50/50 raffle tickets! First place wins half the money raised; second place gets two tickets for Barrister’s Ball ($60 value), and third place gets two extra wine/beer tickets for Barrister’s.

Brown Bag lunch with Katherine Joyce, Esq., Bernstein Shur Katherine Joyce is chair of the Energy and Environmental Practice Group at Bernstein Shur. She focuses her practice in environmental permitting and compliance, particularly as it pertains to power generation facilities, large-scale commercial development, real estate remediation, solid waste, water, and air pollution issues, including existing and developing regulation of GHGs. Kat represents clients in various matters involving federal and state agencies, including the Department of Energy, the Department of Justice, the Environmental Protection Agency, and the Maine Department of Environmental Protection.

MASEL and SBA will be sponsoring a team to compete in the 2016 UVA Annual Law School Softball Tournament in Charlottesville, Virginia. The tournament will be held the first weekend of April, 2016.  This tournament is a great opportunity to network with law students from over 100 other law schools and get our school some national recognition! If you have interest in playing in that tournament, or just helping fundraise to get us there, please join MASEL. This is a co-ed tournament and softball experience is not required.  The team will be limited to a maximum of 15 participants.
